Location: St. Mary’s Parish (100 Young Street)
Start Date: July 1st, 2025
Hours: Full Time (40 hours per week, with occasional weekend & weeknight availability and some opportunities for remote work)
Salary: $55,000, with vacation and benefits
About St. Mary Parish:
St. Mary’s has long been an evangelism-focused parish, but it recognizes that it needs a “new ardor, method, and expression” of evangelization in order to reach the current and upcoming generations. The Director of Evangelization and Leadership will be emboldened to seek out and implement programming which proclaims the message of the Gospel in a fresh and attractive way. Through this they will help newcomers take their next step in faith, including encouraging and training leaders on how to use their unique gifts to further the Kingdom of God.
SUMMARY:
The Director of Evangelization and Leadership will work closely with the Pastors and Leadership Team to choose and implement a new “Step 1” program for the spiritually curious, including gathering and training a team and coordinating any administrative tasks associated with this program. They will oversee the RCIA program, including meeting with potential candidates to discern their place in the program, and will work closely with the volunteer leaders to plan classes, retreats, and liturgical needs during Lent and Easter. Finally, they will oversee the needs of current ministry leaders, helping to set the expectation of approaching ministry with a spirit of excellence. This will include leading leadership summits and information meetings, and working to identify and foster new leaders.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
“Step One” Program
- Along with the Leadership Team, choose and fully implement a “Step One” program for the newly evangelized and spiritually curious. The program may be, but is not limited to, Alpha, CCO’s Discovery, the Rescue Project, or another approved program.
- Recruit and train a team of leaders to help run the program.
- Work with the Communications Manager to plan advertising.
- Work with the Operations Manager/Receptionist to book parish spaces.
- Coordinate food and drinks.
RCIA
- Work with the already established team of leaders to plan programming, coordinate teachers for classes, and find sponsors.
- Plan a yearly retreat for candidates and sponsors during Lent.
- Meet with interested candidates and help them discern their next step.
- Work with the Associate Pastor and Liturgy Coordinator to plan the various rites during Advent, Lent, and Easter.
- With the Associate Pastor, investigate the needs of Canon Law as pertains to candidates (as needed).
- Along with the staff, make a plan for how the newly baptised will integrate into the life of St. Mary’s after Easter.
Ministry Leadership
- Foster good relationships with current ministry leaders, and encourage them in their mission.
- Meet with current leaders individually as needed, to assist them in organizing their team and transferring leadership.
- Work with evangelization-focused ministries (Evangelization Outreach Team, Bayswater & Young, Youth Group) to ensure a smooth pipeline of next steps for newcomers.
- Connect new potential leaders with ministries which suit their gifts.
- Plan & lead bi-yearly Ministry Leaders Meetings
- Implement Leadership Summits (three times yearly) aimed at refining current leaders and fostering new young leaders.

- Dependable Administration: Able to coordinate and clearly communicate the minutiae needed to run multiple ongoing programs and events.
- Empathetic Confidence: Willing to take the time to fully understand the hearts of those in their care, and kindly speak truth to them when needed.
- Excellent Communication: Clear & quick email responses, comfortable with conflict resolution.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- In full communion with the Catholic Church and have a mature spiritual life
- St. Mary’s Parishioner or will become a registered parishioner upon hiring.
- Some familiarity with Catholic teachings on evangelization, parish renewal, and catechetical requirements of RCIA.
- Familiar with the works of Fr. James Mallon (Divine Renovation), Fr. Michael White (Rebuilt), and Patrick Lencioni.
- Experience with CCO, NET, or Encounter Ministries is considered an asset.
