Augustin fait des \u00e9tudes gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 ses parents, qui s\u2019endettent et nourrissent de grands espoirs pour lui. Il aspire \u00e0 la gloire et \u00e0 la richesse. D\u2019\u00e9ducation chr\u00e9tienne, Augustin d\u00e9laisse sa foi \u00e0 l\u2019adolescence puisqu\u2019il n\u2019y trouve plus de sens. Il accumule les liaisons amoureuses et n\u2019a que 18 ans lorsque l\u2019une de ses compagnes tombe enceinte. Mais Augustin n\u2019arrive pas \u00e0 se poser. Il souffre d\u2019un manque que le sexe, l\u2019alcool, la gloire et l\u2019argent ne sauraient combler. Ses buts atteints, il reste insatisfait.<\/p>

Nous avons tous \u00e9t\u00e9 faits pour avoir une relation avec Dieu. En p\u00e9chant, nous faisons passer notre volont\u00e9 avant la sienne. Nous sommes alors comme des poissons hors de l\u2019eau. Et rien en ce monde ne saurait combler le manque ressenti dans nos pires moments. La gloire se ternit. L\u2019argent vient \u00e0 manquer. Les plaisirs du sexe, de l\u2019alcool et des drogues sont \u00e9ph\u00e9m\u00e8res.<\/p>
