Archdiocese of Ottawa-Cornwall

Dear Brothers and Sisters of the Archdiocese of Ottawa-Cornwall,

In this Easter season, as we celebrate the resurrection of Christ, we are invited to reflect on the hope it offers us, a hope to be shared. In a world marked by poverty, disease, environmental and economic crises, it can seem difficult to see a glimmer of hope. Yet the announcement of Jesus’ resurrection is the best news humanity can receive, because it gives new meaning to our trials and offers a new perspective on our existence.

Saint Paul reminds us that hope is not simply a feeling, but a true gift from God, an inner strength that transforms the way we live. For him, this hope is at the heart of the Christian faith, and it enables us to see our sufferings not as insurmountable burdens, but as opportunities to grow in faith and perseverance. The resurrection is the promise that life always triumphs over death, that light drives out darkness, and that, despite everything, a better future is possible.

Let’s take to heart Christian hope, that is always a source of life and renewal. By being the light of the world and the salt of the earth, we can bring to our future a vision full of meaning and love for those who are discouraged. In this Easter season, let us be apostles of hope, bearers of the promise of new life to a world in search of meaning.

Happy Easter to all!
