Archdiocese of Ottawa-Cornwall

Alpha Mondays at St Mary’s Parish

The Alpha Experience is for those aged 18 and up. Each session has a teaching film, and a chance to ask questions. Alpha at St. Mary’s begins February 24th from 7-9pm. Click here to learn more and register!

There is no cost to attend Alpha. We will be meeting in the lower hall, accessible from the door nearest to the rear parking lot. Please arrive just before 7:00 PM for a snack, dessert, or beverage before we start.

Alpha helps us discover and improve a loving relationship with God. Relationship building is only possible if it is bi-directional, and we know each other intimately. In the company of others, with similar desires and questions regarding the most important questions of life, we learn how to feel God’s presence, His tangible love for us, and how we can be filled with joy. Some questions and topics are difficult to raise within our usual circle of acquaintances and friends because we worry how we might be perceived, our lack of knowledge may be exposed, and we don’t want to appear as a fraud. Perhaps we participate in religious events out of habit and realize something in our hearts is missing, and we are desperate to fill the gap, with a joy-filled and confident love.

Alpha encourages us to open our hearts, reveal our concerns, be real with others and experience the value of truth, love, and care by active listening and sharing our own views without threat, fear, or intimidation. This is what is offered without charge.

Sample Will Wording and Charity Number

It is important that your Will include the correct legal name and charitable registration number in your documents. The legal name for the Archdiocese of Ottawa-Cornwall is:

THE ROMAN CATHOLIC EPISCOPAL CORPORATION OF OTTAWA-CORNWALL Charitable Registration # 128967353 RR0001

Your parish office is able provide you with the legal name for your own parish. However, most Archdiocesan parishes and programs can be designated in your Will as:

The Roman Catholic Episcopal Corporation of OTTAWA-CORNWALL, for the benefit of [ Specific Parish, Cemetery, Ministry or Program ] in [ Town / City ].

You may also consider the following clauses in your Will:

For your parish:

“To pay to (Legal Name of Parish) Roman Catholic Parish for its own use absolutely, the sum of (amount) dollars. I declare that the receipt of the person professing to be the Pastor or Parochial Administrator of the parish shall be sufficient discharge to my Trustee who need not see to the application thereof. I further direct that if the (Name of Parish) does not exist at the time of my death, this bequest shall be paid to the Parish’s successor, and if no such successor exists, then to an institution with similar objectives and goals.”
