Archdiocese of Ottawa-Cornwall

Earth Day is right around the corner. While care for the environment was once seen as the work of a few environmentalists, we now recognize that we are all interconnected. Caring for creation is a Catholic responsibility: honouring the gifts of our Creator, being good stewards, and sharing with our brothers and sisters.

How can we live this out in a practical way?

One simple approach is to help redirect waste away from landfills through the Reuse and Recycle Program (RRP), led by Sandra Blais, recipient of the Archdiocesan John Dorner Care for Creation Award, along with a dedicated team of volunteers.

How you can get involved:

  • Current needs for RRP include occasional long-distance drivers, local drivers, weavers, representatives from parishes, students, school boards, CWL members, and Knights of Columbus councils.
  • Support recycling, reusing, repurposing, and repairing items for local charities and global neighbours. There is no financial commitment but every level of involvement helps.

Thank you to all who have generously given their time. New volunteers are always welcome. To learn more about RRP, contact: Sandra Blais, Coordinator: sandra.cwl.olv.rrp@gmail.com

Another way to help is to store 20-25 boxes from May to October for the “Mittens Project”. It would greatly support the Ottawa South Eco-Action Network (OSEAN). Please contact creation@ottawacornwall.ca to learn more.
