Dear Faithful of Ottawa-Cornwall,
This year, the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation invites us to focus on “Good Health and Wellbeing.” This theme reminds us that true healing requires holistic wellness, balancing the physical, spiritual, emotional, and mental aspects of our lives. As a community of faith, we look to the words of Jesus, who came so that we “may have life, and have it abundantly” (John 10:10). Christ’s mission of abundant life calls us to confront historical wounds and actively support the restoration of health, dignity, and self-determination for Indigenous communities.
I encourage each of you today to pray, listen, and learn. Let us walk together with humility, seeking to build reciprocal partnerships rooted in trust and justice. May our collective actions foster a future of genuine healing and balanced wellbeing for all. And remember: reconciliation is not passive; it demands that we take “Truth to Action.”
Sincerely yours in Christ,
