Summary
Under the supervision of and in collaboration with the Director of the Office for Evangelization and Catechesis (OEC), the Research and Resource Development Assistant supports the Director by assisting with responsibilities related to evangelization and catechesis and performs related tasks for the Office for Evangelization and Catechesis

Responsibilities
1. Evangelization and Catechesis

  • Researches and identifies trends, changes, needs and opportunities in the Church and society that affect evangelization and catechesis.
  • Prepares and distributes CCCB resources to promote evangelization.
  • Prepares and distributes CCCB resources for the faith formation of children, youth and families.
  • Prepares and distributes CCCB resources for adult faith formation.
  • Collaborates with the Communications Service in the distribution of new resources.
  • Develops and organizes webinars, podcasts and other online resources for the formation of catechists and diocesan personnel.
  • Maintains an online resource center for evangelization, adult faith formation, catechist training, and parish/family catechesis.
  • Develops and edits the OEC newsletter Encounter and other documents.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

2. Other related tasks

  • Orders supplies for the OEC in accordance with Administration Services procedures.
  • Reviews and updates material on the OEC and Commission for Evangelization web pages in collaboration with the Communications Service.
  • Maintains contact/mailing lists using Outlook and MailChimp.
  • Proofreads texts.
  • Prepares approved agendas, attends meetings, takes notes, and debriefs with the Director.
  • Drafts and submits minutes for approval.
  • Performs other administrative duties as required

Qualifications

  • University degree in theology, religious education, or pastoral studies.
  • Five years of experience in evangelization and catechesis in a diocesan or parish setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of the Catholic Church, its ethos and terminology.
  • Knowledge of trends in evangelization and catechesis (asset).
  • Excellent reading, writing and communication skills in English and French.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Access, Outlook), Canva, and InDesign (asset).
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc.).
  • Proven ability in proofreading
  • Ability to draft documents and research files.
  • Ability to work as part of a team. Discretion, tact and good judgment.

Conditions of Employment

  • Hourly wage range: $39.23– $46.60
  • Excellent working conditions, including pension plan after 2 years of employment.
  • This is a permanent, part time role – 21 hours/week.
  • The role is on-site at the CCCB head office Tuesday/ Wednesday/Thursday.

I further direct that if the (Name of Parish) does not exist at the time of my death, this bequest shall be paid to the Parish’s successor, and if no such successor exists, then to an institution with similar objectives and goals.”
