Prayer Service with the Anointing of the Sick
The sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick provides spiritual help not only for those who are dying, but also for those with serious or chronic illness.
Who can receive this sacrament?
- Those who have a serious and ongoing illness and those who are undergoing treatments (example: chemotherapy or radiation).
- Those who have a chronic condition that affects the quality of their life (example: asthma, COPD, arthritis, diabetes).
- Those who are suffering from emotional and mental illness (example: depression or other ongoing emotional or mental health difficulties). Please note that this sacrament does not replace psychiatrists or psychologists.
- Those who are suffering from addictions that are causing serious on-going problems (again, the sacrament does not replace programs that deal with addictions).
The prayer service for healing (not Mass) with the Anointing of the Sick will be offered on Sunday, June 8 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Columban’s Church, Cornwall. We encourage you to invite family and friends to join us in this celebration.
