Celebrate the Canonization of Saint Carlo Acutis
On Sunday September 7, Saint Patrick Basilica will celebrate the Canonization of Saint Carlo Acutis, the first Millennial Saint, at all Masses in the presence of a first-class relic of Carlo, a gift to the Basilica from Carlo’s mother, Antonia.
A first-class relic is the highest form of relic in the Catholic Church and refers to a piece of the body of the saint—including bones or hair. The relic on display at the Basilica is a strand of Carlo’s hair.
Besides parishioners, Catholics from across Ottawa – and those of other faiths – indeed, everyone is invited to attend any of the six Sunday Masses (Saturday 4:30 p.m., Sunday 8:00, 9:30, 11:00, 12:15 and 7 p.m.) and will be able to pray before the relic before and after each Mass. Saint Patrick Basilica is located in the heart of Ottawa, and both Parliament and the Supreme Court are located within the parish boundary.
The relic will be placed in a permanent display sometime later this year.
