Archdiocese of Ottawa-Cornwall

September 30th – National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Please join us at the Mississippi Valley Textile Museum in Almonte for Reconciliation Through Art. This event features an Art Exhibition of local and Indigenous artists from across Ontario. They will be selling their art, explaining and demonstrating their craft, and telling stories and significance behind their pieces. In addition, Indigenous educators, dancers, and musicians will deliver teachings and demonstrations throughout the day.

Not only is this a great event, Reconciliation Through Art has been the recipient of two grants from the Indigenous Reconciliation Fund – money that you have generously contributed over the last three years. It is definitely worth the drive to this pretty town. Be sure to check out: www.reconciliationthroughart.ca

Archdiocesan Mass for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation September 30, 2025

All are invited to gather for a Special Mass on Tuesday, September 30th, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Archbishop Marcel Damphousse will preside the bilingual Mass at 7:00 PM at Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica (385 Sussex Drive, Ottawa.)

This day is a vital component of the reconciliation process, and we join in public commemoration of the tragic and painful history of residential schools and their ongoing impacts. We invite you to gather with us in prayer, reflection, and solidarity. We will honour the residential school survivors, the children who never returned home, and their families, committing ourselves to walk with Indigenous peoples on the path of healing and hope.

Welcome to the Archdiocese
