Archdiocese of Ottawa-Cornwall

Redbird Ministries, a Catholic grief ministry, has announced the official launch of their Remember program on June 1, 2025! The following text comes directly from Redbird’s recent announcement:

Remember, the first of its kind, is our newest initiative: a grief-support program tailored to comfort those facing the shock, devastation, and crushing burden of suicide.

Remember” covers a number of topics: general and suicide-specific grief, understanding the struggles of the loved one who has passed, applicable Church teachings, and Ignatian prayer exercises that are meant to assist participants in healing.”

Developed by Sr. Kathryn Maney, M.S. & Dr. Matthew Breuninger, “Remember” is an authentically Catholic, 12-session program for those who have experienced the loss of a loved one to suicide.

Special thanks to guest contributors: Dr. Gregory Bottaro, Very Reverend Chris Alar, MIC, Tom Korta, Rev. Andrew Heaslip, STL, Dr. Regina Boerio, and Dr. Sean Stevens.

Red Bird Ministries requires all facilitators to have personal experience with loss to suicide, complete the 12-week program, undergo our Remember Leader Training, and obtain a letter of recommendation from their pastor. If you currently lead suicide survivor groups, hold a professional degree, or are trauma certified, we will consider exceptions on a case-by-case basis.

Note from the Archdiocese of Ottawa-Cornwall: If anyone is interested in completing the training to become a local facilitator for the Remember program, please send us a message at communications@ottawacornwall.ca and let us know!

If you are interested in learning more about the Remember program, please click here, fill out the request form and we will send you a digital review link to review the program.
