Archdiocese of Ottawa-Cornwall

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to making the September 30th Reconciliation Mass at Notre Dame Cathedral such a meaningful and memorable event. Thank you to our clergy, liturgical ministers, musicians, volunteers, and all who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure a prayerful and welcoming atmosphere. Your dedication and generosity created a space for healing, reflection, and unity.

A special note of thanks to Archbishop Marcel Damphousse, Bishop Yvon Mathieu, and Bishop of Valleyfield Alain Faubert for their presence, support and commitment to healing and reconciliation, as well as the Indigenous leaders, elders, and community members whose presence, wisdom, and traditions enriched our celebration. Your participation was vital in fostering understanding and reconciliation, and your openness inspires us all to continue this essential journey together.

We also wish to acknowledge the efforts of the planning team, the staff of Notre Dame Cathedral, and everyone who assisted with hospitality and logistics. Your commitment made it possible for us to gather as a community committed to healing and renewal. To the Kateri Native Ministry, the Mohawk Choir, Isaruit Inuit Art, Grand Chief Mohawk Council of Akwesasne, Ahkwesahsne Mohawk Board of Education, City of Cornwall, Senator Bernadette Clement, St. John’s Ambulance, Café de Tours, the Archdiocese of Ottawa-Cornwall Diocesan Reconciliation Committee and all our special guests, thank you for sharing your talents and spirit with us.

With each person’s support and involvement, we took an important step forward on the path toward truth, justice, and mutual respect. May the spirit of hope and reconciliation continue to guide us all in the days ahead.
